About ALF

ALF™ is generally called Alumina Fibre. As the composite is 70% Alumina and 30% Silica, we name it Alumina Silica Fibre. The product/yarns are produced as a 7 micron diameter filament and are boron free. The 7 micron diameter allows superior flexibility compared to other available materials. Furthermore, because the fibre is boron-free, problems associated with the release of boron gas are not a factor. Performance and durability of Hiltex Alumina Silica Fibre is superior to other products presently available. ALF suffers almost no loss of mechanical strength at temperatures up to 1200º C and can be used for applications approaching 1395ºC.

ALF is available as woven cloth, braided sleeve, tape, rope, yarn and sewing yarn
and is appropriate for countless applications including the following:

environmentally friendly

ALF products are considered to be environmentally friendly "green" products. ALF products are produced from continuous fibre with a diameter of 7 microns. Because of the diameter and length of the fibres, ALF products are considered non-respirable as defined
under the WHO Convention (IARC), and the fibres are outside the diameter range considered respirable under NIOSH standards and European Directive 97/69/EC.
